FIR filters cannot simulate analog filter responses as they are used for filtration in digital systems only. The FIR filters only consist of zeros and no poles, hence they only have numerators.
These filters have better delay characteristics and hence consume more memory as compared to IIR filters. FIR filters are stable in nature, they have no analog history and are dependent upon linear phase characteristics by making the co-efficient sequence symmetric. FIR Filter Characteristics: The FIR filters have certain characteristics due to which they are preferred over IIR filters. For a causal discrete-time FIR filter of order N, each value of the output sequence is a weighted sum of the most recent input values. The FIR filters can be discrete-time, continuous-time and digital or analog. This is due to the fact that it settles down to zero in a finite time period.
